World Bank: Yemen's economy stays under severe strain
Yemen · 14 weeks ago
The Spring 2026 Yemen Economic Monitor, published by the World Bank on 21 May 2026 under the title "Pushing Against the Tide", finds real GDP fell 1.5% in 2025 and projects a further 0.5% contraction in 2026.
Oil exports remain blocked, and activity across sectors continues to be held back by a difficult business environment, limited access to finance and weak domestic demand.
Fiscally, funding for the UN Response Plan fell to 28% of needs from 56.5% in 2024, and public revenues declined to 5.6% of GDP as external grants shrank.
