Updated UK business-risk guidance for the Palestinian territories

Palestine · 11 weeks ago

On 9 June 2026 the UK government updated its Overseas Business Risk guidance for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, a document aimed at companies considering dealings with the Palestinian market.

The guidance describes extensive import and export restrictions — particularly in relation to Gaza — bureaucratic permit systems, and heavily restricted movement between the West Bank and Gaza, alongside limits on deploying new technologies and on infrastructure construction in Areas B and C and in the Gaza Strip.

Economically it records a 27% contraction of the Palestinian economy in 2024 — 83% in Gaza and 17% in the West Bank — with widescale destruction of infrastructure and power and water shortages, and severe pressure on Palestinian Authority finances including withheld tax revenues and the removal of tens of thousands of work permits.
