UAE fast-tracks the pipeline that doubles Fujairah export capacity

On 15 May 2026, at an ADNOC executive meeting, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed announced the acceleration of the West-East Pipeline project to double export capacity through Fujairah, the port on the Gulf of Oman beyond the Strait of Hormuz.

The new line runs more than 360km with a 48-inch diameter and capacity of up to 1.5 million barrels per day. Added to existing infrastructure, combined pipeline capacity toward Fujairah reaches around 3.3 million b/d, and export capacity from the port could rise to as much as 4 million b/d once storage and terminal infrastructure is counted.

ADNOC's chief executive said on 20 May that the second pipeline was nearly 50% complete, with operation expected in 2027. The Habshan–Fujairah route bypasses the Strait of Hormuz, which the UAE says keeps exports running through periods of regional tension.
