Kuwait opens offshore field development to foreign companies

In February 2026 Kuwait announced that Kuwait Petroleum Corporation intends to invite foreign energy companies to take part in developing its recent oil and gas discoveries.
The approach extends to enlisting international majors in developing offshore fields — a shift in a market that has largely stayed closed to foreign participation in direct development.
It runs in parallel with preparations for tenders on the Durra field project shared with Saudi Arabia.
