IMF raises Oman's 2026 growth forecast to about 3.7%

Oman · 10 weeks ago

An IMF mission led by Abdullah AlHassan concluded its visit to Muscat from 7 to 15 June 2026 under the Article IV consultation, raising its 2026 growth projection to around 3.7% from the 3.5% projected in April, driven by higher oil production, with 3% expected in 2027.

Real GDP growth had accelerated to 2.4% in 2025 from 1.6% in 2024, supported by both hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon activity.

The fiscal surplus is projected to widen to 4.5% of GDP in 2026 and 4.2% in 2027, and the current account is expected to shift to a sizable surplus of about 3% of GDP across both years. The mission notes that Oman's oil and gas infrastructure remained largely unaffected by regional disruption, allowing it to raise production and exports.
