A €2m loan for women-led businesses in the West Bank

Palestine · 7 weeks ago

On 9 July 2026 the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development extended a €2m loan to Palestine Investment Bank to widen access to finance for women-led businesses in the West Bank.

The loan sits under the EBRD's Women in Business programme and will be on-lent to eligible private micro, small and medium enterprises led by women. It is accompanied by 20% first-loss risk cover funded by the European Union through its Initiative for Financial Inclusion, alongside an EU-funded technical assistance package.

Palestine Investment Bank will use the technical assistance to build sustainable credit frameworks — designing lending terms and financial products aimed at women business owners, plus marketing campaigns and staff training. Since starting activity in the West Bank and Gaza in 2017, the EBRD has approved 39 projects worth €209.5m in total.
