On 21 July 2026 ADNOC took a $6.2bn (AED 22.6bn) final investment decision to develop the Umm Shaif Gas Cap offshore, alongside its partners TotalEnergies, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation.
The development targets more than 600 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and associated liquids — close to 10% of the UAE's current daily gas consumption. Production is expected by 2030.
The decision includes three engineering, procurement and construction packages worth $5.1bn (AED 18.8bn) in total, awarded to consortiums of UAE and international contractors, plus a $365m drilling programme covering 14 wells.
