ADNOC reported to appoint a Morgan Stanley banker as chief investment officer

Reports in August 2026 said ADNOC has appointed Michael O'Dwyer, Morgan Stanley's global co-head of energy investment banking, as chief investment officer, succeeding Klaus Froehlich — who also came from Morgan Stanley.

It is the second consecutive time ADNOC has filled the role with a Morgan Stanley banker. O'Dwyer has previously worked at Lehman Brothers and Eni.

The move comes amid ADNOC plans to raise its US investments to $440bn over the next decade, with its international investment arm XRG lining up tens of billions of dollars for a US gas push. The report rests on sources and has not been formally confirmed by the company.
